Angel Tree

It’s that time of year again…the HOLIDAYS!!! And we all know that with the holidays come lots of feelings and thoughts. Many of us are planning our shopping trips and gift lists, family dinners and work parties, Christmas cards lists, wrapping presents, traveling out of town, seeing family and friends, and many other activities associated with the holidays….but I find myself thinking about the children and families spending what will be or maybe their last holidays together.

Every day I work with children and their families faced with conditions that limit their child’s life. Every day is a gift to the families, but with the holidays come an extra special time of family fellowship. I am always amazed at how much these families teach me, how blessed I am to have meet them, and how inspirational the children are.

Every year, the Children’s Support Services Program sponsors an Angel Tree at Rock Hard Design inPensacola,Florida. The Angel Tree is full of children and families who maybe spending their last holidays together, but do not have the financial means to buy gifts for one another. The people in our community help make these families last holidays together a joyous time, full of fond memories.

Many of the “gift “ requests on the Angel Tree are for basic needs, such as clothes, socks, shoes, food, and gas. All the angels are current patients of Covenant Hospice and in need of support.

So, as I go through my holidays, I continually remember all of the children and families spending their last holidays together. I challenge you to do the same…and if you heart lends you to do so, go by and grab an angel and make a difference in someone else’s holidays this season!
