Remembering Loved Ones on Valentine’s Day

The holidays can be difficult for families who have lost a loved one. As we are getting closer to Valentine’s Day, here is a little activity you can to do with your child(ren) to remember a loved one you have lost.

Supplies needed: note card(s), markers or crayons, stickers, and pen or pencil

Sit down as a family and talk with your child(ren) about things that are happening in their life that they would like to share with the person who died. As you talk, ask the child to draw a picture of those things on the note card. On the back of the note card, ask the child to write a note to the person who died sharing what is happening in their life. Use a sticker in place of a stamp and “mail” the note card in the “mailbox.”

I encourage you to also participate in this activity with your child. Make it a family night event celebrating the live of the person who died.
