Through the Eyes of a Child: Camp Monarch

Losing a loved one is hard enough for adults, but have you ever considered how it looks through the eyes of a child? Most children have neither the experience nor emotional skills to navigate the hazards of loss and grief.

One of the was Covenant Hospice helps children who have experienced the loss of a loved one is through Camp Monarch, our one-day bereavement camp. We offer bereaved children of various ages who have experienced the death of a loved one- or have a terminally ill loved one- the opportunity to explore their emotions in a safe environment and gain strength from other children in similar situations through a variety of therapeutic activities. Activities include confidence-building exercises, musical and artistic therapeutic activities, crafts and one-on-one sharing.

In 2012, Covenant Hospice is planning to offer four Camp Monarchs. The camps will be held throughout our service area, from Tallahassee to Pensacola. If you are interested to learn more about this year’s Camp Monarchs and other children’s bereavement services please visit our website at www.covenanthospice.org or email us at campmonarch@covenanthospice.org.
